Psycho-Educational Evaluations

Psycho-Educational Evaluations

Assessment of Cognitive development, Academic skill level, Executive Functioning And emotional functioning

Psychoeducational evaluations consist of a battery of assessments geared toward learning more about how your child learns, so that:

  • Teachers and parents are equipped with the knowledge of how to teach your child
  • Your child is aware of his or her strengths, abilities, and what is effective for him or her

Our experienced team of psychologists and educational specialists can help identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses, and develop a tailored plan to support their academic and social-emotional development.

During the assessment, we will evaluate your child’s cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention, executive functioning, and social-emotional well-being. We use a variety of tools and strategies to gather information, including standardized tests, observation, and interviews with parents and teachers.

The assessment results will provide you with a clear understanding of your child’s learning profile and will inform recommendations for school-based interventions, accommodations, and support. It can also help identify any potential learning disabilities, ADHD, or other conditions that may be impacting your child’s learning and behavior.

Our team is dedicated to providing a supportive and compassionate environment for both you and your child. We understand that this can be a difficult time, and we will work with you every step of the way to ensure that you receive the information and support you need.

Testing usually takes about a month and a half from initial interview to final meeting and report.

Testing will typically begin with a parent interview aimed at collecting background information and defining referral questions. These could include:

  • Why is my child struggling to read?
  • Why is my child so good at math but has a problem when taking an exam?
  • Why is my child not motivated in a specific subject?
  • What conditions will bring the best out of my child?
  • Why does my child seem to easily forget what they have learned?
  • Why does my child seem unhappy, worried or frustrated easily

After this meeting, we will draw up a battery of tests and other tools such as observations in the classroom or play sessions with your child alone or together with you, aimed at providing answers to these questions.

Testing your child will usually take 6-8 hours, split according to your child’s ability and your logistical considerations.

Depending on your child’s age, testing is accompanied by Dr. Liz Angof’s

The results of the testing will be discussed with parents approximately three weeks after the tests are completed. The meeting will be followed by a detailed yet user-friendly report that summarizes the results and provides a comprehensive intervention plan. Then, a feedback meeting with your child will be held. An optional second meeting may be scheduled with a learning specialist or a psychologist to discuss the implementation of the testing recommendations.
